Our website address is: https://justtheriffs.com. (JTR)
For more information please see the About Page.
If you leave comments or reviews on the site JTR collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. In some cases, your email address will also be collected and may be added to a Mailing List. You are free to unsubscribe to this at any point via the link provided in any email you receive.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. For more information regarding Gravatar and what it is, please see this link (it's not a bad thing, honest...): https://gravatar.com/
The Gravatar service Privacy Policy is available here and is in no way connected to or administered by JTR: https://automattic.com/privacy/.
After approval of your comment/review, your profile picture may be visible to the public in the context of your comment/review. Should you require this to be removed then please contact me on dataprotection@justtheriffs.com and I will remove it as soon as possible.
If you upload images to the website (don’t worry, you won’t be doing that), you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website so this poses a security risk to you.
If you leave a comment on the site you may opt in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices.
Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.
Articles and Essays on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, links to other articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
JTR has no control over this and it’s your responsibility to monitor and manage what they collect about you and how they use it.
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.
In those instances where you're subscribing to a mailing list, your data and any comments/reviews/media etc may be shared with, stored and tracked by that Mailing List platform I am using. They do not guarantee privacy or security of those data so, in short, don't go sharing anything that you REALLY wouldn't want someone nefarious to see... Just in case.
In short, I don’t collect anything on you that's of any significant monetary value in terms of user data and won’t be selling you don’t the river 👍🏽
If you make a Donation to JTR, you will be taken offsite to PayPal to complete the transaction and returned to JTR upon conclusion. At NO POINT will JTR have access to your financial details as that is all handled offsite by PayPal and their secure systems.
I don't want to know it!
If you leave a comment or review, the comment/review and its metadata are retained indefinitely.
This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a tedious moderation queue.
For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile.
All registered users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username).
Website administrators can also see and edit that information but will only make changes upon request.
Your data is YOU.
It is yours first and foremost.
JTR has no interest in selling you, whole or in part, to 3rd party vendors who’ll then stalk you across the internet and bombard you with unwanted and intrusive adverts and content.
If this site ever becomes a membership platform/monetised and you have an account on this site, or have left comments/reviews, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data JTR holds about you, including any data you have provided to us.
You can also request that JTR erase any personal data JTR holds about you.
This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.
Forms that are submitted will have their data sent to the database of JTR on it's Hosting (the site's Hosting has the site hosted in Lithuania). I'm not a lawyer so I don't know what that may or may not mean for your data but should any issues arise JTR will seek appropriate legal counsel to advise and instruct.
Details submitted through forms that link to Mailing Lists are sent to ConverKit's systems and they are a global company with a very distributed network. I have no idea where your information will end up but they're not a rinky-dink outfit, they're a market leading Digital Marketing Platform and I trust them. 👍🏽
Your data is YOU and it's YOURS. JTR has no interest in anything about you beyond what's needed for the most basic human interactions and to make the site work best for you.
JTR has no intention of selling what data it holds on you.
JTR has no intention of spamming the crap out of you with emails. JTR isn't selling anything so there's no pressure to hit you with the hardcore sales email tsunami.
JTR wants this site to be a valuable resource for you and something you feel safe using. Minimal amounts of data are required to deliver ther content and for you to get the most out of your time on and interaction with the site.
Any issues, just email me at dataprotection@justtheriffs.com and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
Jack.
