Iron Maiden are an English heavy metal band formed in Leyton, East London, in 1975 by bassist and primary songwriter Steve Harris.
Although fluid in the early years of the band, the line-up for most of the band's history has consisted of Harris, lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson, drummer Nicko McBrain, and guitarists Dave Murray, Adrian Smith and Janick Gers.
As pioneers of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal movement, Iron Maiden released a series of UK and US Platinum and Gold albums, including 1980's debut album, 1981's Killers, and 1982's The Number of the Beast – its first album with Bruce Dickinson, who in 1981 replaced Paul Di'Anno as lead singer.
The addition of Dickinson was a turning point in their career, establishing them as one of heavy metal's most important bands. The Number of the Beast is among the most popular heavy metal albums of all time, having sold almost 20 million copies worldwide.

Iron Maiden Can I Play With Madness Bass Tab Steve Harris.
For a relatively short and punchy song this is quite a long tab! Steve is playing lots of variations each time a section or riff comes around so for things like the Verses, where I'd like to use a repeat to save on space, each 4 bar phrase is different so I can't...
Plenty of slight tempo adjustments in here too. They're less noticeable when listening to the song as a whole but when you're transcribing things by section you can hear where they rushed and where they sat back on things.
A lot of Maiden fans dismissed this as a pop song as they hated on the whole Seventh Son album; yes it's commercial but it's still Maiden to it's bones with trademark galloping, harmony guitars and a soaring Bruce.
Iron Maiden The Clairvoyant Bass Tab Steve Harris.
An interesting one this. It's one that cemented my understanding of Steve's secret weapon: his index finger. In order to play this correctly and keep all the accents on your index finger you need to get used to playing multiple 16th notes, at quite high tempo, with a single finger!
It's a definite workout and great for building that index finger discipline.
Iron Maiden Tailgunner Bass Tab Steve Harris.
A blistering opener to an album that shares it's position and theme with Powerslave's opener, Aces High. This song has a LOT of key and mode changes in it. They literally threw everything including the kitchen sink, fridge and cupboard units at this one.
It's a 16th note marathon too. You absolutely need to warm up before you hit this one. Rhythmically there's a lot of DNA in common with the Clairvoyant. There's too much going on harmonically in this song to put here in a paragraph or two! It is fun to play though, the Choruses are especially good fun.
